ID Scanner captures email and phone

Tonight I demoed an ID Scanner that lets my staff collect email and phone numbers right on the scanner.   Most ID Scanners do not have a convenient way to collect this data so I’ve had to use either paper sign up cards or send staff around with a PDA to collect this data.  This new ID Scanner saves time and automates the process with a single button on the screen, that pops up a form with a numeric keypad for phone number entry and a common domain name pull down list for email.     I really like the numeric keypad for phone number entry because my security staff’s fat fingers can directly enter the phone numbers.  No tiny stylus to remove and ultimately lose.  I’m not sure about email as this is a bit cumbersome still because it involves a keyboard on the screen.  I think if the lines are short, it will work but I’m not sure how well they will enter data under pressure with that small keyboard.  I do most text messaging so I sold.

Oh, this product has not been released but the manufacturer said it was OK to discuss it as they expect the press release will go out later this week.  So what for the news.
